CGI of housing development Maelfa Community Living Scheme, showing bus stop, Entrance and apartments.

An exciting new residential development for older people to help them live independently within their own homes, with communal facilities on the ground floor providing areas for socialising and support.

The development will comprise of 41 fully accessible one and two bedroom homes, activity spaces, staff room, medical room and landscaped communal garden with glazed link to the existing Maelfa tower block.

The site is located in the heart of Llanedeyrn with local amenities on its doorstep. The Powerhouse hub is within walking distance and the site is well served by Cardiff buses.

  • The building has been designed with a fabric first approach to ensure it’s energy performance exceeds current Building Regulations.
  • Each property will benefit from underfloor heating which will ensure efficient use of energy and remove the need for radiators, providing flexibility in the home.
  • The development will also have a secure carpark with provision for Electric Vehicle charging.
  • The scheme will have a Sustainable Drainage System designed to reduce the potential impact of the development on surface water drainage in the area, with high quality landscaping to help promote well being.

Current status

We have experienced a bit of a setback following the demise of the appointed main contractor who sadly went into administration in late October. We are currently looking to appoint a replacement with the aim of recommencing work on site as soon as possible, which in all likelihood will be Autumn 2023 at the very earliest.
