An exciting new residential development for older people to live independently in their homes, with access to communal facilities which help promote social interaction.
The development will comprise of 41 fully accessible one and two bedroom homes, residents communal space, medical room and landscaped community gardens.
The multi-use games area (MUGA) and a small community centre will be re-provided within the development.
The site is located in the heart of Canton with local amenities on its doorstep. The high street is within walking distance and the site is well served by Cardiff buses.
- The building is designed over five storeys and provides a new community centre space to the rear. It is designed with a fabric first approach to ensure its energy performance exceeds current Building Regulations and all properties will be built to a rating of EPC A, which will help reduce energy bills.
- Each property will benefit from underfloor heating which will ensure efficient use of energy and remove the need for radiators, freeing up wall space. GSHPs (Ground Source Heat Pumps) will provide the primary energy source which provides a low carbon solution and removes the need for fossil fuel.
- The development will benefit from an Electric Vehicle charging point.
- The scheme will have a Sustainable Drainage System designed to reduce the potential impact of the development on surface water drainage in the area.
We are yet to appoint a contractor and are currently in the process of completing a tendering exercise to ensure best value for this development.
We anticipate work commencing in the Autumn ’22, with completion in the third quarter of 2024.
